Process after Application

After you apply for the Games volunteer programme, you will spend the next two years leading up to 2020 on a “volunteer journey”, taking part in orientation and training sessions with other volunteers. Through this journey you will experience an increasing sense of being part of the same team with your fellow volunteers, and the excitement of being involved in the Tokyo 2020 Games will multiply. Processes

Pairing applicants with preferred volunteer working categories and locations, and informing applicants of assigned category / role and location of volunteer activities.
Applicants whom we are unable to assign to their preferred working role and location will be contacted in September 2019.

Orientation

Each applicant will be required to attend one orientation session, which will last for approx. two hours.
We will be conducting an interview during the orientation session to enable applicants to gain a feel for the atmosphere of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and to raise teamwork levels.

Generic Training

Each applicant will be required to attend one general training session, which will last for approximately 3 – 4 hours.
The general training session will be aimed at enabling applicants to gain basic knowledge required as Olympic and Paralympic volunteers.
Applicants will be able to select their preferred location for attendance at training sessions on their application.
After receiving notification of required attendance, applicants will be able to select their preferred dates from among the following options.
