The Torch Relay route in Nara will feature Nara’s history as an ancient capital and international relations, historical/cultural national treasures and world heritages, and the rich nature of the southern and eastern part of the prefecture. The Torch Relay will present a perfect opportunity to introduce Nara’s charm and attractions to the rest of the world.

The Torch Relay will start in the city of Gojo and visit Asuka, Fujiwarakyo, and Karako-Kagi remains, journey through the central south area of the prefecture, making its way to the Nara Prefectural Kashihara Park Athletics Stadium where a celebration will take place at the end of the first day. On the second day, the Torch Relay will leave from Nara Prefectural Umamikyuryo Park, travelling through Ikaruga, Heijo Palace, and Nara Park and the northern part of the prefecture, arriving at the Great Buddha Hall at Todai-ji Temple for a celebration.
