12 March 2019 marks exactly 500 days to go until the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020,
while 13 April 2019 commemorates 500 days until the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
To celebrate these milestones,
we have designated the period from 1 March to 6 May as the ‘500 Days to Go Event Period’,
during which we will be holding a wide range of related events.

500 Days to Go Until the Tokyo 2020 Games
Since Rio passed the baton to Tokyo to host the next Olympic and Paralympic Games, there have been countless instances of people connecting with the Tokyo 2020 Games. In this video, we trace some of the highlights of the Tokyo 2020 Games to date, and take a look at how things stand right now.

The 500th day until the opening of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 falls on 12 March, one day after the eighth anniversary of the major earthquake and tsunami that devastated huge swathes of Japan’s Tohoku region. To raise excitement and expectations for the Tokyo 2020 Games in the disaster-affected areas currently under reconstruction and the Host City Tokyo, the Tokyo 2020 Caravan project to mark 500 days to go until the Games will be held in various locations in the Tokyo area and in the disaster-affected Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures.
Report of "TSUNAGU MIRAI PROJECT" workshop will be done after Friday, 15 February, 2019.
The programme of events will be known as “Let’s everybody enjoy the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games!” and will kick off with a “Paralympics 500 Days Bus” touring all of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games venues. Various events where visitors can try out Paralympic sports will be held at Mitsui Outlet Park Tama Minami-Osawa on Sunday 7 April, and at Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu on Saturday 13 April.
