On Tuesday 24 March 2020, the International Olympic Committee and The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced the postponement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.
A new schedule for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay will be decided in accordance with the decision made on the specific dates of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Games.
The following information was compiled and released before the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Games was announced on 24 March 2020.
Torch Relay Route
22 August 2020
- Chiyoda City > Taito City > Sumida City > Koto City > Edogawa City
23 August 2020
- Kunitachi City > Hino City > Tachikawa City > Higashiyamato City > Kokubunji City
* The relay route, the municipalities the Torch Relay will travel through, the order in which it travels, the location of the Flame Celebration and any other information provided above are subject to change.
Places of interest in Tokyo
Once the final Paralympic flame has been lit, the Paralympic Torch Relay will then commence in Tokyo.
On 22 August, the Torch Relay will begin in the downtown area of the host city of Tokyo, travelling through the district's old and new sightseeing spots and visiting some of the most beautiful areas of the city. On 23 August, the Torch Relay will travel to the Tama area, where people can experience its harmonious mix of nature and culture.
