Important notice

On Tuesday 24 March 2020, the International Olympic Committee and The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced the postponement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.

A new schedule for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay will be decided in accordance with the decision made on the specific dates of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Games.

The following information was compiled and released before the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Games was announced on 24 March 2020.


The Okayama Prefecture Paralympic Flame Festival will be carried out with the participation of all 27 cities, towns and villages throughout the prefecture. During the five days from Thursday 13 August to Monday 17 August, the Paralympic flame will be lit in 27 cities, towns and villages throughout the prefecture, after which the flames from each city, town and village will be brought together into a single flame to make the Okayama Prefecture Paralympic flame at the Okayama Prefectural Multipurpose Grounds Athletic Stadium, before the flame departs for Tokyo.

As part of the Paralympic Flame Festival, flame lighting will be carried out by cities, towns and villages throughout the prefecture in accordance with the characteristics of each area, and by bringing together the flame into one, in addition to building a sense of oneness for the holding of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, it will embody the concept of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch relay, which is 'Share Your Light/You're Somebody's Light', and be an event which sees the gathering and meeting of many 'lights' (people).

Flame visits 

The Paralympic flame will be displayed in government buildings, etc., in some cities before the gathering of the flames from throughout the prefecture.
