Important notice

On Tuesday 24 March 2020, the International Olympic Committee and The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced the postponement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.

A new schedule for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay will be decided in accordance with the decision made on the specific dates of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Games.

The following information was compiled and released before the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Games was announced on 24 March 2020.

For the Aomori Prefecture Paralympic Flame Festival, seven cities and towns throughout the prefecture will carry out flame lighting, and flame gathering will be carried out at the Sannai-Maruyama Site in Aomori City, which is the largest nationally designated special historic site in Aomori among the Jomon Archaeological Sites in Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku and which are seeking World Heritage inscription in 2021. After visiting 11 locations throughout the prefecture, the Paralympic flame will leave from the Misawa Aviation & Science Museum, Aomori/Misawa Sky Park in Misawa City, which will be hosting the Canadian national wheelchair rugby team for their pre-Games training camp, and where both the public and private sector have been actively involved in helping to realise as an Inclusive Society Host Town.

Flame visits 

In Aomori Prefecture, the Paralympic flame will visit mainly places such as welfare facilities for the impaired persons and schools in 11 cities and towns throughout the prefecture.

The Paralympic flame will visit Aomori City, Hirosaki City, Hachinohe City, Kuroishi City, Towada City, Misawa City, Hiranai Town, Tsuruta Town, Nakadomari Town, Noheiji Town and Nambu Town.
