Purpose of the Sponsorship Programme

The Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme is being conducted for the purposes and goals shown below. Games' Sponsors will contribute to a richer future for Japan and the world through a wide variety of measures, including contributing to the efficient administration and delivery of the Games, and programmes aimed at enhancing the international competitiveness of Japanese athletes.

Sponsorship Structure

The structure of the Paralympic Marketing Programme consists of The Worldwide Paralympic Partners, which are positioned at the pinnacle of the structure managed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Directly beneath the The Worldwide Paralympic Partners are local sponsors of each National Paralympic Committee (NPC) and Games' sponsors of the Organising Committee of Paralympic Games (OCPG).

The IPC tasks the host city with establishing a "joint marketing" structure to ensure the success of the Paralympic Games. The Tokyo 2020 Marketing Programme involves the JPC with transferring its Paralympic-related marketing assets (logos, designations and other Paralympic imagery licensed from the IPC) to the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, which in turn has the right to permit the use of these Paralympic-related assets to prospective Games' Sponsors.

The Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme commences on 1 January 2015, after conclusion of the Sponsorship Agreement, and runs until 31 December 2020. The programme consists of three separate categories (Tiers 1, 2 and 3).

∗ The region of sponsorship is limited to Japan. Terms and conditions of sponsorship differ according to the category (Tier)

∗ Participants in the Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme are required to sponsor both the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020

Sponsor Rights

As specified in the Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme, Games' Sponsors are permitted to use the below properties. Through their involvement in the sponsorship programme, Games' Sponsors will be able to contribute to the efficient administration and delivery of the Games, and the improvement of the international competitiveness of Japanese athletes.

Sponsors are granted the right to use the following designations

  • Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020
  • Japan Paralympic team

Sponsors are granted the right to use the following imagery

  • Tokyo 2020 Paralympic emblem
  • Tokyo 2020 Paralympic mascot
  • Japanese Paralympic Committee (JPC) emblem
  • Japanese Paralympic Committee (JPC) "Gambare! Nippon!" slogan

Right to supply products and services

Right to use Game-related goods, etc. as premiums

Right to promote products and services on-site

Right to use related materials

  • Movies and still images of past Paralympic Games
  • Movies and still images of past Japanese Paralympic athletes
