With Tokyo 2020 now just one year away, it’s time to relive some of the greatest Paralympic moments of the decade. Today, 30 August 2020, Australia become back-to-back Paralympic gold medallists.

The schedule for Tokyo 2020 has been confirmed, venues announced and while athletes around the world are busy gearing up to qualify for the greatest show on Earth, it's time to enjoy 13 days full of the most unforgettable, inspiring and exciting moments from the past as preparations for Tokyo 2020 gather pace!

Australia beat USA at Rio 2016

It is widely regarded as one of the greatest matches in Paralympic history.

Australia went into Rio 2016 as the reigning Paralympic wheelchair rugby champions, having defeated Canada four years previously at London 2012. However they came up against formidable opposition in the final at Rio 2016 - Team USA - who were the most decorated with three Paralympic gold medals.

After the end of regulation time, the scores were tied at 49-49 and the match went into overtime. Team USA were leading as the overtime period neared the end, but Australia managed to score with just one second remaining - sending the match into an unprecedented second overtime period.
