Let’s enjoy the volunteer journey together!

After applying for the Games volunteer programme, you will spend leading up to Tokyo 2020 on a “volunteer journey”, taking part in orientation and training sessions with other volunteers. Through this journey, you will experience an increasing sense of being part of the same team as your fellow volunteers, and the growing excitement of being involved in the Tokyo 2020 Games.

*This general training (online) session is for those who made a reservation during the last week of February 2020 but could not attend the training, or for those who have not been able to participate because they live overseas. If you have already taken the training once, you cannot participate in this general training (online) session.

Processes

Pairing applicants with their preferred volunteer working categories and locations, and informing applicants of their assigned category/role and location of volunteer activities.

Applicants who we are unable to assign to their preferred working role and location will be contacted during September 2019.

Orientation

Each applicant will be required to attend one orientation session, which will last for approx. 90 minutes-two hours.

We will be conducting an interview during the orientation session to enable applicants to gain a feel for the atmosphere of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and to raise teamwork levels.

Information on the orientation

General training

Each applicant will be required to attend one general training session, which will last for approximately three hours.

The general training session will be aimed at enabling applicants to gain the basic knowledge required as Olympic and Paralympic Games volunteers.

Applicants will be able to select their preferred training session location on their application.

After receiving notification of required attendance, applicants will be able to select their preferred dates from among the following options.
