The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) announced today it has concluded an agreement with the Coca-Cola (Japan) Company, Limited (“Coca-Cola Japan”), the Japan subsidiary of Worldwide Olympic Partner The Coca-Cola Company. Under the terms of the agreement, Coca-Cola will become the first presenting partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic torch relay.
Coca-Cola has supported the Olympic Games for 90 years; this agreement with their Japan subsidiary is designed to leverage their experience to help host an unforgettable and fun Olympic Games for spectators and athletes alike.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic torch relay partnership programme consists of three tiers; Coca-Cola will partake as a Presenting Partner, the highest tier. Presenting Partners will have the right to recruit torchbearers and conduct promotional activities using the Olympic torch relay emblem.
Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori welcomed the new agreement, commenting, “We are delighted to welcome Coca-Cola as the first Presenting Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic torch relay.
Coca-Cola has supported the Olympic torch relay as a Presenting Partner at 12 previous editions of the Games and leveraging their deep experience we plan to make the Tokyo 2020 Olympic torch relay a successful event that will help get everyone get fired up before the Games.”
