Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee reports on the current status of Games preparations to the 18th IPC General Assembly

On 5 September, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee) delivered a presentation on the current status of its Games preparations to the members of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) on the occasion of the 18th IPC General Assembly in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

This was the first progress report provided to the full membership of the IPC since the IPC General Assembly in Mexico in 2015. The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee was delighted to have the opportunity to report directly to over 300 members of the IPC, and the report contained updates on the strengthening of the Organising Committee's organisational structure, venue constructions, Games operations, construction of the Athletes' Village, and the success of the various engagement initiatives being undertaken by the Organising Committee in the lead up to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The members of the IPC Governing Board and the members of the IPC commended the Organising Committee on the outstanding progress it has made to date on a wide range of aspects of its Games preparations.

Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee Chief Executive Officer Toshiro Muto remarked, “There are now only around 1,000 days to go until the 2020 Games, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the IPC towards the successful completion of our Games preparations and the delivery of an unforgettable Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.”
