The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee Executive Board today appointed three new organising committee members who will commence their duties in January 2016. The three appointments are:
– Yusuke SAKAUE, Tokyo 2020 Vice Director General
– Toshiro YONEMURA, Tokyo 2020 Chief Security Officer
– Hikariko ONO, Tokyo 2020 Spokesperson
"I am delighted to welcome Yusuke Sakaue, Toshiro Yonemura and Hikariko Ono as new members of our team," said Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto. "It is essential that the organising committee draws on the wisdom and expertise of people from diverse backgrounds. Their appointments reflect the strength of our "Best of Japan" team and the level of world-class excellence that we will be providing for the Tokyo 2020 Games. Their presence will immediately enhance the committee and their experience will be a crucial factor in our preparations and delivery of successful and safe Games in 2020."
Graduated from the Department of Faculty of Economics, University of Tokyo, Yusuke Sakaue served as the Chairman of UD Trucks Corporation, which he joined in 2004 when the official company name was Nissan Diesel Motor Co., Ltd. Sakaue started his successful career at the Industrial Bank of Japan before becoming the Managing Director of Mizuho Securities in 2000.
Toshiro Yonemura joined National Police Agency in 1974, becoming Superintendent General in 2008. He was the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary for Crisis Management from 2011 to 2014. Yonemura has been a Tokyo 2020 Executive Board member since 2014 and will maintain this position.
Graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Hitotsubashi University, Hikariko Ono joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988. She served as Director of the Public Diplomacy Planning Division of the Public Diplomacy Department, before becoming Director of the Public Diplomacy Strategy Division. She then became the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Public Affairs of the Prime Minister's Office. In 2014, she was appointed as Managing Director of the Japan Foundation.
