Sydney 2000 Men's 20km Race Walk

The high point of Robert Korzeniowski career came at Sydney 2000 and it all started in the men's 20km race walk. Usually a 50km specialist (the Polish athlete had won gold at Atlanta 1996 in the event) but he also had the speed to compete with the best in the 20km. However, in a field that featured reigning world recorder holder Julio René Martínez of Guatemala, Korzeniowski began his journey into the record books.
