Athens 2004 Women's Rowing Eights

When Romania sat on the starting line of the Athens 2004 women’s rowing eights final, they were the reigning double Olympic champions. But the United States had already proved this final would not be a one-way affair when they finished ahead of them in the heats in a new world record time.

One of the eight Romanian rowers in the team was Elisabeta Lipă, whose remarkable Olympic career ended with a total of five gold medals.
