Tokyo 2020 Ready to Deliver Superb Olympic and Paralympic Games

A distinguished delegation from the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee today visited Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the Bid's Supreme Advisor, to express appreciation for the government's unequivocal support, which was instrumental in Tokyo being selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Host City for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The announcement of the successful Bid came at the IOC Session on September 7 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Prime Minister Abe spoke forcefully about the capacity of sport to bring people together and his government's commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable Games in 2020.

Tokyo 2020's delegation was led by Tsunekazu Takeda, IOC Member and President of the Japanese Olympic Committee and Tokyo 2020; Masato Mizuno, Tokyo 2020 CEO; Yuki Ota, double Olympic silver medallist in fencing; and Mami Sato, three-time long jump Paralympian.
